Rachel Buchanan, a biomedical engineering graduate student working with Professor Michael Sacks in the Center for Cardiovascular Simulation in the Institute for Computational Engineering and Sciences, took first place in the doctoral student paper competition in the cardiovascular biomechanics category at the 7th World Congress of Biomechanics in Boston.

Nicholas Peppas, chair of the Department of Biomedical Engineering, and Ali Khademhosseini, adjunct associate professor in biomedical engineering, have made the Thomson Reuters list of Highly Cited Researchers for 2014.

Zaman Receives AAPM Best in Physics Award
Raiyan Zaman, who received her Ph.D. in biomedical engineering from The University of Texas at Austin in 2011, received the "Best in Physics" award from the American Association of Physicists in Medicine.

The University of Texas at Austin granted 75 bachelor’s, six master’s, and 11 doctoral degrees in biomedical engineering at the 2014 spring commencement ceremony.
