Professor Jenny Jiang and alumna Mary Caldorera-Moore have been selected to attend the National Academy of Engineering’s Sixth Frontiers of Engineering Education Symposium. The symposium will take place October 26–29 at the National Academies’ Beckman Center in Irvine, California.
Dr. Jiang is an assistant professor whose research focuses on systems immunology, with the ultimate goal of creating effective regenerative medicines and therapies for cancer and other diseases. She is a recipient of a grant from the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT).
Caldorera-Moore received her Ph.D. in biomedical engineering from The University of Texas at Austin in 2010, where she studied with Krishnendu Roy and later conducted postdoctoral research with Professor Nicholas Peppas. She is currently an assistant professor at Lousiana Tech University researching drug delivery.
The Frontiers of Engineering program brings together a select group of emerging engineering leaders from industry, academia, and government labs to discuss pioneering technical work and leading edge research in various engineering fields and industry sectors. The goal of the meetings is to introduce these outstanding engineers (ages 30-45) to each other, and through this interaction facilitate collaboration in engineering, the transfer of new techniques and approaches across fields, and establishment of contacts among the next generation of engineering leaders.
