Professor Nicholas Peppas has been appointed to a three-year term on the National Materials and Manufacturing Board, part of the National Academies of Science, Engineering and Medicine.

The board, a fusion of the National Materials Advisory Board and the Board on Manufacturing and Engineering Design, strives to assess the current state of materials and manufacturing research. It then wants to see how to apply these materials on the atomic, molecular and nano scales in innovative ways.

Professor Peppas’ research focuses on drug delivery, biomaterials, and bionanotechnology, and he has received many accolades for his contributions to his field. He is a member of the National Academy of Inventors, the National Academy of Engineering, and the National Academy of Medicine. He is also the director of The University of Texas at Austin's Institute of Biomaterials, Drug Delivery and Regenerative Medicine
