Nicholas Peppas, a professor in The University of Texas at Austin’s Department of Biomedical Engineering and director of the Institute for Biomaterials, Drug Delivery and Regenerative Medicine, has been elected to the European Academy of Sciences.
The European Academy of Sciences (EURASC) operates with the mission to promote excellence in science and technology and foster social and economic development and progress. EURASC is a non-profit, non-governmental, independent organization of distinguished scholars and engineers performing forefront research and the development of advanced technologies, united by a commitment to promoting science and technology and their essential roles in fostering social and economic development.
Peppas will be inducted during the EurASc Annual Symposium & Ceremony 2024 at the Academy of Sciences in Lisbon, Portugal on Wednesday, October 30.
This year’s symposium themed, “Science for Sustainability,” is aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals and brings together distinguished scientists from various fields, including Chemistry, Environmental Sciences, Engineering, Materials Science, and Life Sciences.
Peppas is also a member of the National Academy of Engineering, the National Academy of Inventors, the National Academy of Medicine and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Additionally, he is a member of the Academies of Canada, France, Spain, Greece, Romania, India, Korea, China, Mexico and the Academia Europaea.
