Acta Biomaterialia has selected William Meador for their Acta Student Award for his primary contribution to the manuscript “A detailed mechanical and microstructural analysis of ovine tricuspid valve leaflets.”

will meador 2Meador is a graduate student working with Assistant Professor Manuel Rausch in the Soft Tissue Biomechanics Laboratory. His research focuses on characterizing the histomechanical properties of tricuspid heart valve tissue.

Meador will receive a $2,000 prize and will receive the award at the Acta Symposium during the TMS 2022 conference in Anaheim, California next spring.

Acta Biomaterialia is an international journal that publishes peer-reviewed original research reports, review papers and communications in the broadly defined field of biomaterials science. The emphasis of the journal is on the relationship between biomaterial structure and function at all length scales.
