Yin-Jui (Derek) Chang, a second-year graduate student advised by Dr. Samantha Santacruz, has received a 2020 Trainee Professional Development Award from the Society for Neuroscience. The award is given to trainee graduate students or postdoctoral researchers who demonstrate scientific merit and excellence in research.

Chang was recognized for his recent computational work inferring forward and inverse dynamics of multiscale neural activity using a NeuroBondGraph Network. He will present his work at the upcoming Society for Neuroscience Global Connectome virtual conference in January and currently has a first-author journal manuscript on this research under consideration at Nature Communications.

Chang previously received a government scholarship to study abroad from the Ministry of Education for Taiwan
