I’m so encouraged that you’re considering applying to our graduate program. Biomedical engineering is a dynamic and vital field dedicated to the improvement of human health. While the world has slowed with the COVID-19 pandemic, our research and training efforts have continued. Biomedical engineers are needed now more than ever to solve grand challenges through medicine, technology, and engineering. Our renowned faculty members are flexible and many of our labs pivoted to COVID-19-related work. We have been active in our engagement with this crisis and, with the support of UT Austin, will continue to do so. I invite you to explore our site and get a better feel for what we are all about. We know your scholarly potential can’t be measured with one test. That’s why we take a holistic approach when reviewing all applications we receive by the deadline. There are no cut-off or minimum scores, and we will make every effort to be flexible in accepting Pass/Fail coursework due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Many Texas BME professors are also faculty members in the Dell Medical School, one of the first medical schools in decades to be built from the ground up at a Tier 1 research university. We collaborate with physicians and DMS researchers in areas such as cancer, pediatrics, modeling, and many others.
