Raiyan Zaman, who received her Ph.D. in biomedical engineering from The University of Texas at Austin in 2011, recently received a postdoctoral fellowship from the American Heart Association (AHA).

Raiyan Zaman, who received her Ph.D. in biomedical engineering from The University of Texas at Austin in 2011, recently received a postdoctoral fellowship from the American Heart Association (AHA).

Zaman, a postdoctoral fellow at the Stanford School of Medicine, will use the award to continue her research on developing a catheter-based imaging system to detect atherosclerotic plaques.

Zaman was one of 34 people out of 189 applicants to receive the AHA fellowship.

As a doctoral student in the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Zaman worked with Professors Ashley J. Welch and Henry G. Rylander III.
