Emily Yang, an undergraduate student in the Department of Biomedical Engineering, is the only sophomore from The University of Texas at Austin to receive a Texas Exes President's Leadership Award.

The Texas Exes created the President's Leadership Awards in 1985 with an endowment from past Texas Exes president Frank Denius. These awards recognize undergraduate students who have demonstrated outstanding leadership within the student community at The University of Texas at Austin.

Yang is an undergraduate researcher with Professor Hyun Jung Kim in the Biomimetic Microengineering Lab. She also works as an Engineering Physics Learning Assistant and volunteers with a number of student organizations including Texas Engineering World Health, Student Engineers Educating Kids (SEEK), and Roden Leadership.
