The American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery (ASLMS) recently awarded Tianyi Wang, a research associate working with Professor Thomas Milner, with a research grant and a Best Student/Resident Award.
Wang was one of two recipients out of 27 applicants to receive a one-year ASLMS Research Grant in the amount of $55,000. He will use it to continue his research on a catheter-based combined optical coherence tomography and two-photon luminescence imaging system for detection of thincap fibroatheroma—a particular type of high-risk plaque that leads to heart attack.
The ASLMS also recognized Wang with the Best Student/Resident Award for his paper titled Two-Photon Luminescence Properties of Gold Nanorods for Macrophage Targeting at the 33rd ASLMS Annual Conference, where he received the award on April 5, 2013.
Wang also received the Best Student/Resident Award at the 2011 ASLMS Annual Conference.
