The Student Engineering Council (SEC) selected Krishnendu Roy as the Most Outstanding Faculty in the Department of Biomedical Engineering for 2012–2013. This recognition is a testament to Roy’s commitment to students as a professor and mentor, as his nomination and the award were based solely on student votes. Roy will be honored at an award ceremony on March 7th at 4:00 p.m. at the Student Activity Center Ballroom.

Roy is a Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering and holds a Cockrell Family Chair in Engineering Excellence. His research seeks to understand the immune system's response to genetic manipulations and includes biopolymer-based gene therapy and stem cell-based tissue engineering.
