Professor Jeanne Stachowiak will present her research at the 52nd Annual Meeting of the Biophysical Society of Japan. The meeting will take place September 25–27 in Sapporo, Japan.

Stachowiak is an assistant professor whose research focuses on better understanding biophysics that underlie the function of lipid membranes in cells and using the organizational principles of the lipid membrane to develop functional systems such as drug carriers and environmentally responsive materials. She will give a presentation on how lipid rafts and membrane proteins collaborate to organize and shape biological membranes.

Stachowiak is the recent recipient of an NSF CAREER Award that will fund research with the potential to more effectively eliminate cancer cells and treat damaged tissue and an NIH grant aimed at gaining a detailed understanding of endocytosis .
