As many as 1 billion people including 20% of children in the world do not have enough food to eat. Many suffer from micronutrient malnutrition, a shortage especially of iron, zinc and some vitamins. To provide these in an effective manner is not simple and requires technological approaches that reflect the chemical composition of foods and the way in which the nutrients interact. This is a topic best approached with a combination of engineering principles and physician interaction. Some ideas and examples of this will be discussed.
