The Stanford Undergraduate Research Association has awarded biomedical engineering sophomore Carlton Rice first place in the Engineering category at the 2016 Stanford Undergraduate Research Conference.
Rice’s research in professor Kenneth Diller’s lab focuses on the application of selective thermal stimulation to control thermoregulatory blood flow in humans for therapeutic applications. Doctoral student Gary McGregor mentors him in the lab.
Winners of the Stanford Undergraduate Research Conference awards were selected in engineering, humanities, economics, biology and chemistry from 85 applicants from nationwide institutions. The winners were selected based on their poster’s content and aesthetics, their speaking ability and their knowledge about the subject when questioned by Stanford faculty.
