The University of Santiago de Compostela (USC) in Santiago, Spain, awarded Nicholas Peppas with the title of Doctor Honoris Causa.

peppas usc doctor honoris causaPeppas is the professor in the Cockrell School of Engineering’s Department of Biomedical Engineering, McKetta Department of Chemical Engineering, as well as the Dell Medical School and College of Pharmacy. He directs UT Austin’s Institute of Biomaterials, Drug Delivery and Regenerative Medicine.

Peppas received the distinction for his extraordinary scientific accomplishments in the field and was nominated by the USC Department of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Technology.

He is a member of the National Academy of Engineering, National Academy of Medicine, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the Royal Academy of Chemistry, the National Royal Academy of Spain, the National Academy of France, and the National Academy of Athens. Peppas holds additional honorary doctorates from the Universities of Ghent, Parma, Athens, Ljubljana, Patras, and National Technical University of Athens, as well as Honorary Professorships at Sichuan University, Peking Union Medical College, the PLA Hospital and Medical School, and Beihang University in Beijing.
