The American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE) has recently announced the election of Professor Mia Markey to its College of Fellows.
Markey’s innovative research on cost-effective, computational decision aids, with a focus on women’s health help physicians better diagnose, treat, and manage cancer.
She has been recognized for with ASEE Sharon Keillor Award for Women in Engineering, the Society for Women’s Health Research Medtronic Prize for Scientific Contributions to Women’s Health, and was recently named a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
With the addition of Professor Markey, the Department of Biomedical Engineering currently has 13 faculty members in the AIMBE College of Fellows.
The AIMBE College of Fellows consists of 1,500 individuals who are outstanding bioengineers in academia, industry, and government. Fellows are nominated each year by their peers and represent the top 2 percent of the medical and biological engineering community.
Professor Markey will be inducted into the AIMBE at their annual event in Washington, D.C., on April 4 at the National Academy of Sciences.
