Ethan Kwan, a biomedical engineering senior, has received the $1,000 Kuhn Family IE Award for Fall 2016.

According to the IE, Intellectual Entrepreneurship, website, “The mission of IE is to educate ‘citizen scholars’ — individuals who creatively utilize their intellectual capital as a lever for social good.”

Kwan has been working in the Biomechanics Experimental Lab in the Center for Cardiovascular Simulation, directed by Professor Michael Sacks, since summer 2015. Kwan researches the effect of mechanical stimuli on the mitral valve anterior leaflet. IE selected him to receive this award because of his, “ambition, academic success and professional promise.”
