Kristy Wood, a BME doctoral candidate, has been selected to receive the 2005-06 William S. Livingston Fellowship. Named after an eminent political scientist at UT who held the position of Senior Vice President and Dean of Graduate Studies, the fellowship provides full stipend, tuition and insurance during Kristy's last year of graduate studies. A 2002 graduate of the Biomedical Engineering Department of the University of Wisconsin, Kristy has been working on the mechanisms of protein drug absorption through monolayers of various mucus-producing cell lines and co-cultures of Caco-2 cells in conjunction with HT29-5M21 cells. Kristy will be presenting the results of her recent studies at the Third World Congress on Drug Absorption, Transport and Delivery to be held in Barcelona, Spain on April 18-20, 2005.
