David Beavers, Rebecca Rosenberger, Sheena Black, Lena Dixit, and Ajay Mody were notified recently that they were selected as 2006 Presidential Endowed Scholarship recipients! Fifteen new Endowed Presidential Scholarships were announced this year, one available to students campuswide. The others are designated for students in a particular college or school. There are two new awards in the School of Architecture, three in the College of Engineering, two in the College of Fine Arts, and two in the College of Natural Sciences. The remaining five awards are for students in Athletics, the McCombs School of Business, the School of Law, the College of Liberal Arts, and the College of Pharmacy.

The University of Texas Development Board established the prestigious Endowed Presidential Scholarship program in 1973 to provide merit-based scholarship support to its most talented and deserving students. Nine scholarships were awarded the first year, and since then the program has grown steadily, thanks to the generosity of the University's alumni and friends. Endowed Presidential Fellowships were added to the program in 1997 to recognize and support exceptional graduate students. In all, more than 1,200 undergraduate and graduate students received Endowed Presidential Scholarships and Fellowships from 764 named endowments in the 2005-06 academic year.
