Dunn has demonstrated exceptional achievements and experience in biomedical engineering. He will be recognized during the BMES Annual Meeting held this October 11-14, 2017.

Andrew Dunn has been elected to the BMES Class of 2017 Fellows. Dunn, a professor of biomedical engineering and director of the Center for Emerging Imaging Technologies, has demonstrated exceptional achievements and experience in biomedical engineering.

His research is focused on developing novel optical imaging techniques for imaging brain function and on integrating innovative photonics and computational techniques and applying them to research questions in areas such as stroke, migraine, functional mapping during neurosurgery, and Alzheimer's disease. Using his laser speckle imaging technique, it is possible to see blood flowing in the brain in real time and identify clot formation. This allows neurosurgeons to easily identify areas suffering from reduced blood flow and prevent strokes.

Dunn was recently recognized for his scientific achievements with the 2017 Edith and Peter O'Donnell Award in Engineering from The Academy of Medicine, Engineering & Science of Texas (TAMEST) and is a fellow of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering.

Dunn will be recognized during the BMES Annual Meeting held this October 11-14, 2017 in Phoenix, Arizona.
