The American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE) has recently announced the election of Steven Abrams to its College of Fellows.

Steven Abrams is a professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering and the Chair of Pediatrics, Director of Dell Pediatric Research Institute and a professor of Pediatrics at Dell Medical School at The University of Texas at Austin.

Abrams is a neonatologist whose research focuses on the mineral requirements of children of all ages. Clinically his interests are in the growth of preterm infants and the use of specialized nutritional practices. He believes that achieving adequate growth safely in high-risk infants through a multidisciplinary approach is a key aspect of neonatal care.

Abrams is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, and is the current Chair of their Committee on Nutrition, and a former associate editor of the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.

Professor Abrams will be inducted at AIMBE's annual event in Washington, D.C., on April 9, 2018.
