Aaron Tasset, a second-year graduate student working in Evan Wang’s lab, was recently awarded the Department of Defense (DoD) National Defense Science & Engineering Graduate (NDSEG) fellowship, which will provide him with three years of support.

Tasset’s broad research focus is on non-viral gene delivery for opsin expression in neurons for neurological disorders. His proposal for the fellowship was on the co-therapy of stem cell-derived V2a interneuron transplantation and neuromodulation via optogenetics for improved functional recovery in spinal cord injury.

The DoD awards graduate fellowships to individuals who have demonstrated ability and special aptitude for advanced training in science and engineering.
