Graduate Student Research Assistants

The Ultrasound Imaging and Therapeutics Research Laboratory of the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin is seeking applicants for several immediately available positions of Graduate Student Research Assistant. Research in our laboratory explores biomedical imaging of biological systems for various applications, including detection and differentiation of tissue pathology, therapy monitoring, and development of novel biomedical and clinical imaging tools. These particular openings are somewhat in the area of ultrasonic detection of laser-tissue interaction and molecular imaging and therapy of cancer using photoacoustic effect although we “hire the person, not the position” (see Research Projects). Generally, the candidate will be involved in an interdisciplinary research projects with collaborating departments within the College of Engineering and Natural Sciences, clinical sites (the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, and other Medical Center nationwide) and our industrial partners. Candidates are expected to perform independent research activities and supervise undergraduate students. Experience with laser optics, ultrasound, experimental biomedical engineering, hardware design, and software development will be favorably regarded.
