Undergraduate/Masters Student

Ultrasound imaging and therapeutic laboratory (BME department) tends to hire an undergraduate/Masters student with the following background.

Required Background:

• Electromagnetic concepts
• Electric circuits design and test (especially: Power regulators, current rectifiers, comparators, RC circuits,…)
• Logic design
• Familiarity with microcontrollers

Projects:

• Design and build a specific strong magnetic pulser with controllable pulse width and pulse repetition rate. (We have the general design ideas but we need to modify and prototype it).

• Design and build a motion gating system for live animal imaging. It will be an electrical control unit that uses the animal heart beat and respiratory signal to generate a control trigger signal for our imaging system at the proper time (Least motion). The project also includes the design of the respiratory motion gating i.e. a simple pressure sensor. Heart beat signals are available through a commercial ECG pad.

Work Hours:

Flexible (10 hours per week or more).

Start time:

As soon as possible (Not later than beginning of the spring 2009 semester).
