The University Of Texas at Austin

Biotechnology Seminar Series:

Students will be required to register for BME 197S (Biotechnology Seminar Series) and attend biotechnology seminars sponsored by the NIH training grant, or co-sponsored between the training grant and other existing seminar programs (see below for a list of current seminar programs on campus).

The seminar program will typically involve 7-9 speakers in a given year. Both academic and industrial speakers will be invited, and the student trainees will be actively involved in suggesting potential speakers for the seminar series. A one hour contact period (and/or a lunch) between the trainees and the speaker will be scheduled during the visit. This will provide an opportunity for closer interaction with noted scientists and will also help increase the student's participation. Several industrial speakers have already expressed an interest in presenting as part of this seminar series. Students will be required to write a one-page summary of two seminars each semester.
