Pooja Trivedi, a fourth-year biomedical engineering student, has been selected as a 2019 Forbes 30 Under 30 Summit Scholar. She is one of 1,000 students to receive the scholar designation, which will fund her attendance at the 2019 Forbes 30 Under 30 Summit in Detroit, October 27-30, 2019. The four-day event features speakers involved in technology, healthcare, science, and innovation.

Trivedi has been involved in numerous student organizations at The University of Texas at Austin, serving on the Department of Biomedical Engineering’s Undergraduate Advisory Board, the Student Engineering Council, and as the Vice President of annual events for the Biomedical Outreach and Leadership Team (BOLT). She is also a member of Texas Orange Jackets, a service-oriented organization and official host of university and co-directs Cockrell School Cares workshops and events, which is a group that promotes student well-being and mental health.

In 2018, Trivedi participated in Projects with Underserved Communities in Thailand. Currently, she works part-time at Apple, where she also interned last summer, helping the company work on its closed-loop environmental goals by working on electronics’ end of life.

As a President’s Award for Global Learning finalist, she and her team wrote a proposal and pitched it to deans across the university. Her team raised enough money to travel to Israel to conduct water conservation research in Israel.

Trivedi will graduate in May 2020 with plans to pursue industry.
