Nicholas Peppas, chair of the Department of Biomedical Engineering, and Ali Khademhosseini, adjunct associate professor in biomedical engineering, have made the Thomson Reuters list of Highly Cited Researchers for 2014.

This list identifies researchers with the largest number Highly Cited Papers, those that rank in the top 1 percent by citations for a given Essential Science Indicatorsâ„  field and year indexed in the Web of Science, during the 11-year period from 2002 to 2012.

Peppas has published on the topics of biomaterials, drug delivery, bioengineering, hydrogels and polymers. Peppas was listed in the pharmacology and toxicology category.

Khademhosseini has published on the topics of hydrogels, microfluidic arrays and biological surfaces. He was listed in the material sciences category.

Peppas and Khademhosseini are two of over 3,000 influential researchers to earn this distinction.
