Professor Nicholas Peppas has been selected by an international scientific committee as the winner of the 2010 Maurice Marie Janot AwardThis award was established in 1986 by the European Pharmaceutical Society APGI and the Paul Neumann Foundation for Scientific Research. It is now sponsored by Aventis Pharma. The purpose of this award is to recognize an international researcher for the quality, innovation and pioneering impact of his/her research work in pharmaceutical sciences. Previous award recipients have been Stanley S. Davis (1986, University of Nottingham, United Kingdom); Joseph R. Robinson (1989, University of Wisconsin, USA); H. Sezaki (1992, University of Tokyo, Japan); Daan J.A. Crommelin (1995, University of Utrecht, The Netherlands); Francis Puisieux (1998, University of Paris-Sud, France); Hans E. Junginger (2000, Leiden University, The Netherlands); Thomas Kissel (2002, University of Marburg, Germany); Paolo Colombo (2004, University of Parma, Italy); Alexander Florence (2006, University of London, UK); and Patrick Couvreur (2008, University of Paris-Sud, France). The award will be given on the occasion of the 7th World Meeting on Pharmaceutics, Biopharmaceutics, and Pharmaceutical Technology which will be held in La Valetta, Malta on March 8–11, 2010. The meeting is organized by APV (German “International Association for Pharmaceutical Technology”), APGI (French “Association de Pharmacie Galénique Industrielle”) and ADRITELF (Italian “Associazione Docenti Ricercatori Italiani di Tecnologie e Legislazione Farmaceutiche”) and 15 other pharmaceutical societies. At the opening session of the Malta meeting Dr. Peppas will give the plenary Janot Lecture.
