Professor and Department Chair Nicholas A Peppas and Adjunct Professor Lisa Brannon-Peppas were elected as Fellows of the Controlled Release Society (CRS) in its inaugural class.


Professor and Department Chair Nicholas A Peppas and Adjunct Professor Lisa Brannon-Peppas were elected as Fellows of the Controlled Release Society (CRS) in its inaugural class. The purpose of the CRS College of Fellows is to recognize those who have made outstanding contributions at the highest level in areas of interest to the CRS. The induction of the inaugural class of fellows took place at the society’s annual meeting in Portland on July 13, 2010.

Lisa Brannon-Peppas has been an active member of CRS since 1988. She served as the society's treasurer from 1995–1998 and chaired the Strategic Planning Committee. Additionally, she served as a member of the Scientific Program Committee and the Awards Committee. in 1996, she ran the society's annual meeting and was elected to the Board of the Society from 1992–1995.
 
Nicholas Peppas was one of the earliest members of CRS having been a member for more than 35 years. He served as a CRS board member in the early 1980s, as an organizer of the first international CRS meeting (in Geneva, Switzerland, in 1985), and as an organizer of the 1991 CRS meeting. From 1987–1988, Peppas served as president of the CRS, and he continued working with the society throughout the 1990s to establish international chapters in Argentina, Germany, Greece, Italy, Korea, Japan, Slovenia, Taiwan, Turkey, the United Kingdom, the Iberian Peninsula, and Nordic countries.
