Justin Drake, who received a bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering in 2011, has been appointed by Governor Greg Abbott as a student regent to the University of Texas System Board of Regents.

Justin Drake, who received bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering in 2011, has been appointed by Governor Greg Abbott as a student regent to the University of Texas System Board of Regents.

Drake is currently pursuing a doctorate of biochemistry and molecular biology with a concentration in computational biophysics from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. He will serve as a student regent for a term that expires on May 31, 2016.

The Board of Regents is the governing body for The University of Texas System and is composed of nine members who are appointed by the governor and confirmed by the Senate.
