BME undergrad selected for Washington Internships for Students of Engineering (WISE) Program

Patrick Stokes, junior in Biomedical Engineering, has been selected for the Washington Internships for Students of Engineering Program (http://www.wise-intern.org/). As a WISE intern, Patrick will spend nine weeks in Washington, D.C. to learn how government officials make decisions on complex technological issues and how engineers can contribute to legislative and regulatory public policy decisions.  He will interact with leaders in the Congress and the Administration, industry, and prominent non-governmental organizations. The WISE Program is ranked one of the 100 best Internship opportunities in the U.S. by the Princeton Review. All WISE Interns are each sponsored by one of the engineering societies that participate in the WISE program; Patrick is sponsored by the IEEE. At UT Austin, Patrick is an undergraduate research assistant working with Prof. Mia K. Markey in the Biomedical Informatics Lab (http://www.bme.utexas.edu/research/informatics/).
