March 2005 - Kenneth Diller, Chairman of BME, and Nicholas Peppas, professor of BME, were elected to the inaugural class of the Biomedical Engineering Society Fellows. In addition to active participation as a biomedical engineer in the private or public sector, the nominee must have a demonstrable record of exceptional achievement and accomplishment in their specific field.

Dr. Diller was named a Fellow for seminal contributions to applications of heat transfer principles to biological systems.

Dr. Peppas was named a Fellow for seminal contributions to the synthesis, characterization and applications of polymers and hydrogels as biomaterials, and for pioneering work on drug delivery that has led to more than twenty pharmaceutical or biomedical devices and products.
