Ellen Chen receives President's Leadership Award
April 14, 2005 - The Texas Exes awarded seven outstanding student leaders with the President's Leadership Award. Awardees not only fit the award criteria but also connect with their peers, university staff, and university faculty in meaningful ways. Over 70 students were nominated.
The selection committees interviewed eighteen finalists, and after two days of interviews, the following students were selected to receive the 2005 President's Leadership Award:
Freshman:
- Tara Elizabeth Buentello; Plan II Major from Needville
Sophomore:
- Vivek Ashok Sakhrani; Mechanical Engineering Major from Pune, India
Junior (2):
- Ellen Grace Chen; Biomedical Engineering Major from Richardson
- Lauren Gray Gilstrap; Plan II and Business Honors Major from Marshall
Senior (3):
- Salomé Balderrama; Architectural Engineering Major from Edinburg
- Jesús Castillón; Communication Studies and Journalism Major from Eagle Pass
- Matthew L. Hardigree; Government and Cultural Geography Major from The Woodlands
