Georgiou elected Fellow of the American Society for Microbiology

Biomedical Engineering faculty, Dr. George Georgiou, has been elected a Fellow of the American Academy of Microbiology. The Academy of Microbiology has 2,000 fellows worldwide selected out of approximately 150,000 American Society for Microbiology members (http://www.asm.org).

The American Academy of Microbiology (AAM) is the honorific leadership group within the American Society for Microbiology. Members of the AAM are known as Fellows. Fellows are elected through a highly selective, annual, peer-reviewed process, based on their records of scientific achievement and original contributions that have advanced microbiology. The Committee on Election to Fellowship (COE) reviews nominations once each year. Nominations approved by a 2/3 vote of the COE are forwarded to the Board of Governors (BOG). Candidates ratified by a 2/3 vote of the BOG are welcomed to Fellowship each year at the ASM General Meeting.
