Research Focus: Study of Mouse and Human Stem Cells Differentiation into Hematopoietic Progenitors

In the past several years, a number of studies have shown that stem cell differentiation involves critical changes in gene expression. Using cDNA microarray analysis, we will compare the gene expression profile of hematopoietic progenitor cells (HPCs) in vitro differentiated from mouse embryonic stem cells at different time points with native HPCs from mouse fetal liver and bone marrow.

A second project will be the study of efficient methods for Notch-ligand directed scalable differentiation of human cord blood-derived hematopoietic progenitor cells into the T cell lineage.
