Notes from GIAC On Applying to UT Austin
The following provides details regarding application to the Graduate and International Admissions Center (GIAC) which you must do IN ADDITION TO applying to the Biomedical Engineering Department.
Please note: the GIAC website is continually monitored to ensure that all information is accurate, comprehensive, and up-to-date. The information on our website is more current than our paper materials. The electronic application is the preferred method for applying for admission. We strongly urge you to submit your application for admission electronically, even if accessing our website is somewhat inconvenient for you, because it allows for the most efficient processing possible. (NOTE: The electronic application takes 2 weeks to reach the BME department, so if you submit the application on the date of the deadline, it will not be received on time and your application will be considered incomplete.)
If you must request a paper application, there are two options:
- Write to:
The Office of Admissions
The University of Texas at Austin
Austin, TX 78712
Allow several weeks for processing and mailing of paper applications.
- Phone: 512-475-7390
GIAC will not accept requests for paper applications in any way other than these two options.
On this application, please specify if you are a U.S. citizen or permanent resident graduate, international graduate, or international undergraduate applicant and the program in which you are interested. Be as specific as possible; for example, specify "Biomedical Engineering" instead of "Engineering" and note the specific area in BME you desire, such as "cell & tissue" or "laser spectroscopy", etc.
